Litigation Paralegal
This is a unique opportunity to work with a very collaborative General Counsel team and has autonomy to work directly with outside counsel to resolve outstanding claims and ongoing lawsuits.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, format, proofread, e-file, and serve pleadings;
- Calendar court dates, filing deadlines, and other important litigation docket dates;
- Help with propounding and responding to discovery and review and organize electronic document production;
- Assist with preparing factual summaries and medical treatment chronologies for cases;
- Serve on outside agencies and respond to subpoenas requesting record production; and
- Various administrative tasks, including administering the department’s e-billing software, answering emails and phone calls from outside counsel and other legal vendors, etc.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of recent experience as a litigation paralegal or legal secretary;
- Paralegal Certificate, or otherwise qualified to work as a paralegal under Calif. Bus. & Prof. Code, is preferred;
- Knowledge of state and Federal local court filing rules (including preparing tables of contents and tables of authorities [TOCs/TOAs]) and litigation docket deadlines;
- Software proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, PACER, and other e-filing platforms; and
- Positive team player attitude [a prerequisite for everyone at the company], very organized and has attention for detail, good time management skills, and maintains fun sense of humor while working.

- 3+ years of litigation paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary experience
- Creative problem solver who anticipates risks and opportunities and maintains a vision for continuous improvement
- Willing and able to own projects, writing and negotiating, planning and organizing
- Proven knowledge of docketing
- Solid understanding of subpoenas
- Preparing pleadings experience
- e-Filing experience preferred
- Deep understanding of eDiscovery
- Medical records analysis experience preferred
- Customer service-oriented communication skills that allow for pleasant and beneficial interactions with all customers
- Detailed, accurate, and an ability to handle confidential information
- Ideal candidate should possess knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets
