Position Description

Modern Family Law, a boutique law firm specializing in Family Law, is looking for a compassionate, innovative, and respected Full Stack WordPress Developer to work with our dynamic marketing and technology team.

Modern Family Law offers dynamic compensation, a wide array of benefit selections, and a culture built on family. It should be noted that the individual hired for this position must be seated in California. Further, the Firm will not sponsor candidates for work eligibility.

To be successful in this role, the incumbent in this position would be expected to do the following:

  • Develop, manage, and maintain the company website, including a custom WordPress theme and PHP plugins.
  • Create and manage a robust staging environment for development and testing.
  • Handle regular website backups and ensure site security and reliability.
  • Optimize website performance, structure, and functionality for SEO and UX/UI best practices.
  • Build and troubleshoot front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Implement server-side logic and database integrations using PHP.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement design and functionality improvements.
  • Monitor and manage server environments (Nginx and/or Apache) for optimal performance.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • As our culture is remote-first, all employees are expected to have the capability to work from home with a reliable internet connection and to set up a workstation that supports productive work during normal business hours.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in front-end and back-end web development.
  • Expertise in WordPress development, including custom themes and plugins.
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Familiarity with server environments like Nginx and Apache.
  • Strong understanding of SEO and UX/UI best practices.
  • Experience managing staging environments and website backups.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • High-level knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Suite of products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Zoom Conferencing Technology.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills:

  • Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js).
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
  • Knowledge of database management (e.g., MySQL).
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG).

  • Ability to be a proactive self-starter who understands the details within a much larger context.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, reliability, and ability to learn new technology quickly.
  • Excellent client service skills and ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands.
  • Position periodically requires off-site work at a war room or the courthouse when the case goes to trial.
  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk while typing, using a mouse, and looking at a computer screen.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to handle routine or emergent issues.
  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing using a telephone, text messaging, or emails.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend over, and lift items from the ground exceeding 10lbs to a height from between one’s waist to eye level.

Compensation: $105,000 - $150,000 annually (California only). The range presented is a reliable estimate of the base salary that this individual is expected to receive. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, billable hour expectations, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Full-time employees may be eligible for health insurance with an optional HSA, short-term disability, long-term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.

Additional voluntary programs include voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long-term care, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance, and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
