Sr. Accountant

A local client is has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant to join the team in the non-profit sector, based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The role involves a diverse range of accounting tasks including general ledger accounting, managing the month-end close process with the Controller, and assisting with financial analysis and the board package presentation development.

Responsibilities:

• Payroll processing through ADP
• High level oversight over the AR process
• Perform reconciliations at the end of each month
• Assist with the processes and controls of accounts payable
• Undertake general accounting tasks
• Cross-train in other positions within the finance department
• Reconcile balance sheets and bank statements
• Maintain the general ledger and make necessary journal entries
• Utilize Microsoft Excel for various tasks
• Handle the close of each month
• Work with Dynamics GP and manage fixed assets
• Conduct Ad Hoc financial analysis as required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role
• Proficient in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations
• Solid understanding and experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and record journal entries accurately
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial reporting
• Experience with Dynamics GP or similar accounting software is required
• Knowledge and understanding of fixed assets accounting
• Ability to perform ad hoc financial analysis as required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills
