Responsibilities:

You’ll utilize your sales, marketing and negotiating skills to grow the book and enhance your producer relationships.

• Experience underwriting professional with strong property and casualty underwriting skills
• Manage growth, profit and loss for assigned region
• Manage agency/producer relationships for assigned region
• Handle new and renewal submissions and endorsement requests from agents/ producers
• Document underwriting files to support analysis, coverage terms and pricing
• Operate in accordance with underwriting authority as delegated by manager
• In conjunction with management, lead business initiatives for territory including execution of pricing, premium retention, coverage analysis, loss control needs, claim service needs and account stewardship
• Provides clear instruction and guidance to underwriting support staff and operations staff
• Apply your sales and marketing skills and strategies in order to meet financial goals
• Follow established pricing, underwriting and documentation protocol as set forth by underwriting management
• Mentor & coach junior underwriters and underwriting support staff

May perform other functions as assigned

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in a commercial underwriting experience
• Knowledge of commercial lines underwriting standards and practices along with rating/pricing methods
• Knowledge of interpreting coverage forms
• Negotiation skills
• Experience selling and/or marketing insurance products & services
• Producer management – driving results and managing agency/producer relationships
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Presentation skills
• Excellent PC skills and a working knowledge of Windows environment a valid driver’s license and carry vehicle insurance coverage.

• Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
