Administrative Coordinator
We are seeking a responsible and compassionate Shelter Supervisor for our client's non-profit organization to ensure smooth operations. This position will play a critical role in ensuring a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for all residents.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the daily activities of shelter residents and ensure adherence to the established rules and regulations.
- Assign chores to residents in a fair and organized manner, monitoring completion and providing feedback as necessary.
- Oversee administrative tasks including, but not limited to, resident registrations, record-keeping, and maintaining inventory comtrol.
- Be sensitive to the needs and complaints of residents and address in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Ensure the facility is clean, safe, and functional, performing light maintenance duties if needed or reporting larger issues to the appropriate party.
- Conduct orientations for new residents, explaining their responsibilities and the resources available to them.
- Facilitate community meetings for residents to discuss common issues and resolutions, promoting peaceful cohabitation.
- Provide crisis intervention as necessary, referring residents to appropriate resources within the community for additional help.
- Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and residents, ensuring all parties are informed of relevant news, incidents, and changes in policy.
- Collaborate with other non-profit organizations for fundraising, volunteer activities, etc.
- Ensure compliance with all local and federal regulations related to shelter operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
Previous experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a shelter or residential facility setting.
Must possess strong administrative, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Basic knowledge of relevant local and federal regulations.
Ability to handle crises and high-stress situations with patience and professionalism.
Demonstrated knowledge of issues relating to homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse.
First aid and CPR certification is desirable.
Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
