Job Overview:

Summary

We are looking for an experienced industrial painter/sandblaster. The industrial spray painter will spray surfaces of manufactured products with protective material such as enamel or epoxy.

Hourly Rate: $20/hr

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Operates abrasive blasting equipment to remove mill scale, corrosion or other contaminants on materials to a desired surface profile for paint application.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols and regulations are being followed during the sandblasting process.
  • Operate sandblasting equipment and machinery, including adjusting the necessary settings and maintaining equipment.
  • Inspect equipment, materials, and surfaces before and after the sandblasting process to ensure that the job has been completed to the required standard.
  • Keep accurate records of all sandblasting jobs, including the materials used, the time taken, and any issues that arose during the process.
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as painters or supervisors, to ensure that the sandblasting process complements and supports the overall project goals.
  • Prepare sandblasted equipment by cleaning, sweeping, taping off, and measuring surface profile prior to painting.
  • Must be able to work around industrial paint and solvents while wearing proper P.P.E. to perform tasks.
  • Paint surfaces with coatings, paints, using brushes, spray guns and rollers.
  • Ability to mix paint and follow manufacturers data sheet for proper mix ratios.
  • Clean paint equipment after painting application has taken place.
  • Shift consists of 8-12 hours, 6 days a week.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses the operation of material handling equipment and various tools and machinery.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and work with various materials and/or tools, as well as work and bend at different heights, in various temperatures, and be on feet for an extended period of time.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience
  • Technical school a plus or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, respirator, gloves etc.).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required by the project.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Will be required to pass fit test for respirator
