Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Facilities Management, the Facilities Technician I job primary job responsibilities includes daily or weekly routine service tasks for internal customers and grounds maintenance, and tasks to maintain the general building appearance.

Work also includes light repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment, buildings and building system components, including work at other Versiti building locations. Other tasks will include completing work orders, completing documentation (either written or data entry), supporting other departments when needed, furniture moving, and work with contractors, and supporting project work with the Facilities Teams as a group or independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for completing work orders as assigned and within the defined deadline. This may include non-routine tasks such as patching drywall and painting, light repair work, replacing basic plumbing parts, and other building maintenance.
  • Initiates and completes preventative maintenance (PM) tasks according to schedule, such as changing filters and belts, vent cleaning.
  • Performs grounds maintenance including seasonal activities such as snow and ice removal, salting, and power washing.
  • Conducting inspections on equipment or building components such as eye-wash or shower stations, and lighting.
  • Completes Facilities work at state donor centers, which may include minor site repairs, furniture/equipment moving, and PM work, and other work orders.
  • Completes room or event set-ups as requested.
  • Supports the biohazard waste and recycling programs as necessary.
  • Coordinates and completes project work with team to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
  • Conducts and supports fire alarm testing, fire drills or other emergency response activities when needed.
  • Assumes on-call responsibility as needed.
  • Helps to maintain the organization of the Facility Department with tools and equipment regularly.
  • Where applicable, Tech I may support security functions, help move medical equipment to and from Versiti or other local facilities.
  • Works in FM software systems as necessary to keep systems accurate and updated. This may software such as a building maintenance system, access control, HVAC controls or other Facilities Management systems.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
  • Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures
Qualifications: Education
  • High School Diploma required
Experience
  • 1-3 years experience in general maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, or building and equipment repairs preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong computer aptitude/skills required
  • Organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills required
  • Effective customer service and communication skills required
  • Ability to work independently and with a team required
  • Skilled in trouble shooting and resolving basic mechanical issue preferred
  • Must be a self-starter and work independently to accomplish assigned tasks required
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license required
Licenses and Certifications
  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State required
Tools and Technology
  • Maintenance tools related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing equipment preferred
  • Computerized building, equipment, and alarm systems preferred
  • System/equipment monitoring tools required
