Project Accountant

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounts payable functions, ensuring accurate billing, and maintaining compliance with construction industry regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounts payable functions for construction projects, including processing payments to vendors and subcontractors.
• Manage the preparation of contractor invoices and payment applications using AIA billing methods.
• Utilize Sage 100 or similar construction accounting software to input and track invoices, ensuring timely payments.
• Reconcile accounts payable records with project budgets, ensuring all expenses stay within approved limits.
• Review and approve subcontractor payment applications, verifying they meet contractual requirements and project specifications.
• Ensure compliance with construction lien laws by managing lien waivers and processing payments accordingly.
• Collaborate with project managers to track and report project job costs, ensuring financial accuracy.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including aging reports and cash flow projections, related to accounts payable.

The ideal Project Accountant candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Other requirements for the Project Accountant position include and are not limited to:

• 3+ years AP (AIA Billing) experience
• Proficiency in SAGE 100 or other construction accounting
• Strong knowledge of construction lien laws, AIA billing procedures, and vendor/subcontractor management.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
