AR/VR Systems Architect (The Immersive Visionary)

We’re looking for an AR/VR Systems Architect (aka The Immersive Visionary) to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of advanced AR/VR systems that redefine what’s possible in digital engagement.
As an AR/VR Systems Architect at our client, you’ll collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to create scalable, high-performance systems that deliver smooth, captivating AR/VR experiences. Your expertise in systems architecture, 3D graphics, and immersive technology will be essential in building foundational infrastructure that supports applications across industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Scalable AR/VR System Architectures:
- Develop the overall architecture for AR/VR systems, ensuring scalability, modularity, and performance. You’ll define system components and their interactions to support complex, interactive experiences.
- Oversee 3D Rendering and Graphics Pipelines:
- Lead the design and optimization of rendering pipelines, ensuring high-quality visuals and smooth frame rates across diverse hardware. You’ll work with advanced techniques like ray tracing, real-time lighting, and LOD management.
- Integrate Hardware and Software Components:
- Design systems that seamlessly integrate hardware (VR headsets, AR glasses, controllers) and software components, including sensor data, graphics engines, and input handling. You’ll create a cohesive experience that’s responsive and immersive.
- Implement and Optimize Real-Time Data Processing:
- Develop systems for real-time data processing, such as positional tracking, motion capture, and environmental scanning. You’ll ensure accurate, low-latency feedback for immersive, responsive interactions.
- Collaborate on Multi-Sensory Interaction Design:
- Work closely with UX/UI designers and engineers to incorporate spatial audio, haptic feedback, and gesture recognition. You’ll help define how different sensory inputs combine to enhance the user experience.
- Conduct System Performance Testing and Optimization:
- Run performance diagnostics, stress tests, and hardware compatibility assessments. You’ll identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations to ensure reliable performance across platforms and devices.
- Stay Updated on AR/VR Architecture and Hardware Trends:
- Continuously research advancements in AR/VR architecture, hardware, and software. You’ll incorporate the latest tools, frameworks, and best practices to keep systems on the cutting edge.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Expertise in Systems Architecture for AR/VR: Strong understanding of systems architecture, including 3D graphics rendering, real-time data processing, and cross-platform development.
- Proficiency with AR/VR Development Platforms: Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, or custom AR/VR platforms, including knowledge of their architecture and integration capabilities.
- Hardware and Sensor Integration Knowledge: Familiarity with VR headsets, AR glasses, motion tracking systems, and sensors (e.g., IMUs, LIDAR).
- Programming Skills in C++, C#, and Python: Proficiency in languages for high-performance application development, with experience in low-level optimizations.
- Problem-Solving and Optimization Skills: Ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks, optimize complex systems, and ensure compatibility across hardware.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience in AR/VR systems architecture may be considered.
- Certifications or specialized training in systems architecture, immersive technology, or 3D graphics are advantageous.
Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in systems architecture or AR/VR development, with a strong portfolio demonstrating scalable, high-performance systems.
- Experience working with AR/VR hardware and familiarity with the technical requirements of spatial computing applications.
- Background in managing cross-platform performance optimization for AR/VR devices is a plus.
