Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Continuity Disaster Recovery Specialist with deep technical expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop and implement a comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) program.

This role involves creating and optimizing BCDR strategies from the ground up, ensuring our organization can maintain critical operations and quickly recover from disruptions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop BCDR Strategies: Design and implement a robust business continuity and disaster recovery program, including risk assessments, impact analyses, and strategy formulation tailored to AWS environments.
  • AWS Infrastructure Management: Architect and manage AWS-based solutions to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance. This includes leveraging services such as AWS Backup, AWS Disaster Recovery, AWS CloudFormation, and AWS Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Business Impact Analysis: Conduct thorough business impact analyses to identify critical business processes, dependencies, and recovery requirements.
  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Create, test, and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures, including data recovery and system restoration protocols. Ensure these plans are aligned with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within the AWS environment and develop mitigation strategies to address these risks.
  • Incident Response: Develop and implement incident response plans for various disaster scenarios. Coordinate and lead incident response activities to ensure swift resolution and recovery.
  • Testing and Validation: Regularly conduct disaster recovery exercises and tests to validate the effectiveness of recovery plans and procedures. Ensure all team members are familiar with their roles in these scenarios.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all BCDR processes, policies, and procedures. Prepare reports and presentations for senior management on BCDR status and improvements.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs for staff on BCDR policies, procedures, and best practices. Promote awareness of business continuity and disaster recovery across the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance the BCDR program. Continuously evaluate and improve recovery strategies based on lessons learned and feedback.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced certifications or degrees in business continuity or disaster recovery are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in business continuity and disaster recovery, with a strong focus on AWS environments.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of AWS services, including but not limited to AWS EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch. Hands-on experience with AWS disaster recovery tools and practices.
  • Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional preferred. Additional certifications in business continuity (e.g., CBCP, MBCI) are a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing AWS-based disaster recovery solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex technical issues.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to BCDR (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
