Staff Accountant

Robert Half is seeking to hire a Degreed Staff Accountant in Texas City, TX for a thriving accounting department. This role is currently hiring local talent as this position is 100% in office, offered as a contract to hire opportunity. Day to Day duties, but not limited to the following responsibilities:

• Maintain and control general ledger accounts and transactions.
• Prepare, record, and process accounts payable and cash disbursements.
• Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts such as accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accrued expenses.
• Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
• Participate in annual audit and tax filing process.
• Perform variance analysis and prepare account reconciliations.
• Assist with budget preparation and financial planning processes.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
• Identify areas of improvements in internal processes and propose changes.
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Proven working experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role.
• CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, especially strong in Excel.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational ability.
• Effective communication skills.
