Large utility is looking for a Project Cost Controller in Jackson, MI. The Project Cost Controller is responsible for tracking and controlling project costs, including invoice and ticket review, data entry, and supporting cost control activities, while requiring proficiency in Excel and a basic understanding of construction, contracting, and accounting principles.This is a contract position estimated to last 12 months, possible extension, possible temp to perm.

responsibilities:

  • Track and control costs associated with one or more projects.
  • Review and track invoices and contractor time & material tickets.
  • Administer project change control documentation.
  • Perform data entry for miscellaneous reporting activities.
  • Provide support to the primary project cost controller and occasionally work independently with management oversight.
  • Ensure tasks are completed in a timely and organized manner.
  • Take direction, prioritize tasks, and complete work punctually.
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Utilize Excel spreadsheets for cost control and reporting tasks.

Skills:

  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in basic computing skills, especially Excel.
  • Basic understanding of construction projects, contracting, and accounting principles.
  • Ability to understand and apply project management concepts.
  • strong communication skills for interaction with team members and management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Education and Experience:

  • Higher education in construction/project management, engineering, business, accounting, or finance is desirable.
  • Relatable work experience in project cost control and monitoring.
  • Certifications from PMI or AACE are a plus.
