Staff Accountant - Farmers Branch
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, supporting timely reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cash Applications: Assist with processing cash applications, ensuring proper allocation and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating any discrepancies, and monitoring accounts to ensure they are accurate and up-to-date.
- Journal Entries: Prepare and review journal entries, including manual runoff journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to accounting principles.
- Regulatory Filings: Contribute to the timely preparation of key regulatory filings, such as the annual statement, NY supplement, Cyber insurance, and D& O supplements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Documentation and Support: Ensure robust supporting documentation for all balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, in compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
- Account Monitoring: Assist with ongoing monitoring of insurance-related accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to best practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (including operations, claims, and actuarial) to gather necessary data and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- 5 years of experience in insurance accounting or a similar role.
Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles, including premium revenue, claims expenses, reinsurance, and regulatory filings.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, including runoff accounting.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate financial information effectively.
Knowledge of regulatory filing requirements and insurance industry-specific regulations is a plus..
