Shift: 6:45 AM - 5:15 PM 4 Days x 10 hour Shifts.

Job Description:

This position requires a strong understanding of surgical procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to respond quickly to changing situations in the operating room.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and organize the operating room before surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are available.
• Assist in the cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments according to established protocols.
• Set up sterile fields and drapes to maintain a safe and sterile environment for surgery.
• Assist surgeons and surgical staff during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and ensuring the surgical field remains sterile.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond proactively to requests for instruments and supplies during operations.
• Monitor the patient’s condition and report any changes or concerns to the surgical team.
• Assist in the safe transfer of patients from the operating table to recovery.
• Ensure that all instruments and supplies are accounted for before closing the surgical site.
• Help with cleaning and resetting the operating room for the next procedure.
• Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure a seamless surgical experience.
• Communicate effectively with team members regarding patient care, equipment needs, and surgical procedures.
• Participate in surgical team meetings and provide input on process improvements and patient safety initiatives.
• Stay updated on best practices, new technologies, and advances in surgical procedures.
• Comply with all safety and infection control regulations to ensure patient safety and care quality.
• Maintain certification and participate in ongoing training as required.

Qualifications:

Certification:

• Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from an accredited program.

Experience:

• Previous experience in an operating room setting preferred.
• Familiarity with surgical instruments and procedures in various specialties.

Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a sterile environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to urgent situations effectively.
