Job Description:

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) will work in the General Operating Room (OR) to provide essential support during surgical procedures. The CST will function as an integral member of the surgical team, ensuring that the operating room is prepared and maintained to facilitate safe and efficient surgical operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment. Ensure that all necessary supplies are sterile and ready for use.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, suctioning, and holding retractors as needed. Maintain a sterile field to prevent infection.
• Operate and maintain surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring functionality and safety. Assist in the cleaning and sterilization of instruments after procedures.
• Accurately document surgical counts and report any discrepancies. Assist with maintaining records of surgical procedures and patient care.
• Monitor patient status during surgery and communicate any changes to the surgical team. Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the surgical process.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and other surgical staff to deliver high-quality care. Participate in team meetings and discussions regarding patient care and operational efficiency.

Requirements:

• Certification:
• Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is required.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a surgical setting, preferably in a general surgery environment.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Licensure:
• CPR certification required (Basic Life Support - BLS).
