SPEECH PATHOLOGIST (IN, Licensed) (PRN)

Overview:

Evaluates and treats patients of all ages who suffered cognitive, language disorders, swallowing problems, and oral motor disorders due to trauma, illnesses or surgery. This position creates a treatment plan based on the assessment findings and, works with the patient and family members to achieve the highest possible level of independence.

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)
  1. Designs and executes a treatment plan based on assessment findings.
  2. Documents assessments and interventions accurately and timely.
  3. Educates patients and families.
  4. Evaluates patients cognitive, communication, swallowing skills.
  5. Participates in multi-disciplinary meetings and case reviews.
  6. Supervises students as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrates proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to meet unanticipated demands and priorities.
  • Knowledgable in the principles of growth and development over life span.
  • Possess skills to work with patients of all ages from infant to geriatric.
  • Ability to work safely at all times adhering to the safety policies and procedures, as well as the National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Ability to perform all duties in a courteous and kind manner by placing the patients and families first.
  • Ability to assist other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.
EDUCATION
  • Masters Speech Pathology Required
  • 1 Healthcare/Medical - Speech-Language Pathologist Preferred
  • Certified Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Licensed Speech Pathology
