Purchasing Assistant

Overview:

The Purchasing Assistant will work closely with the Purchasing Manager to perform the essential functions of the Purchasing Department. The Assistant will be primarily responsible for clerical duties related to the purchasing procedures and be a self-starter with purchasing experience, strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

• Place orders with vendors including researching products, obtaining price quotes
• Experience with high volume purchasing (200-300 orders per month)
• Enter purchase orders, other documents as needed into database
• Enter purchase orders (from manual purchase requisitions) into operating system
• Maintain open purchase order report – follow up with vendors as needed
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and other issues as appropriate
• Maintain accuracy of vendor files
• Perform 3-way match of receivers as required
• Backup person to acquire quotes and place orders for vendor resale items provided by sales as required

Qualifications:

Proficiency of computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet

Experience using ERP systems. Experience working in VANTAGE or Syteline is a plus
