The Supervisor, Specialty Pharmacy Technician Navigator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all technician navigator operations at HMH Specialty Pharmacy. Collaborates with the Specialty Pharmacy Manager, Clinical Coordinator, Technician Supervisor, Clinic, and Staff Pharmacists to directly supervise daily technician navigator functions, encompassing workflow, call-in, scheduling, and quality processes within the pharmacy.

Additionally, accountable for collaborating with specialty pharmacy leadership on all aspects of pharmacy patient therapy management and developing necessary analytic reports and dashboards for URAC, ACHC, and other specialty pharmacy accreditations in conjunction with the specialty pharmacy staff.

  • Some travel will be required for this position in doing onsite visits to each of our navigators spread across the HMH network.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Supervisor, Specialty Pharmacy Technician Navigator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  1. Supervise all specialty pharmacy navigator technicians to ensure compliance with company, local, federal, and state policies and laws.
  2. Create, track, and monitor prescription referral metrics for each technician navigator and clinic location. Provide feedback to site navigators and promptly develop action plans to achieve productivity goals developed for each site.
  3. Collaborate with the Specialty Pharmacy Manager and Clinical Coordinator to interview prospective pharmacy technician navigators.
  4. Coordinate all navigator schedules in alignment with specified clinic hours.
  5. Conduct initial and ongoing orientation and training for all navigator technician staff to ensure training is complete and competencies are maintained.
  6. Serve as a backup for technician navigators at specified locations when required.
  7. Monitor and enforce compliance with New Jersey Board of Pharmacy regulations, HIPAA, OSHA, and Hackensack Meridian Healthcare Policies and Procedures for all technician navigator activities.
  8. Conduct employee performance reviews in partnership with the Pharmacy Manager and Clinical Coordinator.
  9. When necessary, collaborate with technician navigators to provide exceptional phone service to customers, patients, and healthcare providers, address patient phone calls, and triage calls to pharmacists as needed.
  10. Adhere to departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code.
  11. Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  2. Minimum of three (3) years prior pharmacy technician/navigator experience in hospital, retail, or specialty pharmacy.
  3. Demonstrated ability to supervise multiple Specialty Pharmacy Technician Navigators across a large regional health network
  4. Must be able to travel periodically to navigator sites to provide training, feedback, or on-site meetings as needed
  5. Must be comfortable using multiple software programs.
  6. Must be organized and possess effective time management skills.
  7. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and written.
  8. Detail-oriented (or ability to perform duties with the highest degree of accuracy).

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  1. Previously effective supervisory or lead pharmacy technician experience.
  2. Specialty Pharmacy
  3. Epic/Willow Ambulatory

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  1. Pharmacy Technician License.
  2. PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or NHA) within 6 months of entering position.
