Security Engineer - Greenville

Robert Half is hiring! We are in search of a Security Engineer to join our team based in Greenville, South Carolina. This role functions within the industry, focusing on the administration of Splunk Cloud, SIEM management, and data ingestion.

The Security Engineer will also actively contribute to potential migration projects and provide support to Security Operations. The employment opportunity on offer is permanent.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer Splunk Cloud configurations, monitor performance, and liaise with Splunk support to guarantee availability and efficiency.
  • Manage and optimize Splunk ES, including aspects such as correlation searches, risk-based alerting (RBA), and asset/identity management.
  • Utilize tools such as Splunk UF, HEC, and Cribl Stream for onboarding and normalizing diverse log sources, ensuring comprehensive security and auditing support.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of potential migration to Elastic, translating Splunk dashboards, workflows, and queries.
  • Collaborate with Security Operations Center teams for real-time threat detection, investigations, and proactive threat hunting.
  • Enhance query and dashboard performance; maintain clear, detailed documentation and train staff on tools and processes.
  • Applicant must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a similar role as a Security Engineer is required.
  • Proficiency in using security platforms and tools such as Splunk and Elastic Stack is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities and risks.
  • Strong knowledge of information security principles and practices is necessary.
  • Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to information security, privacy, and data protection.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or similar are highly preferred.
  • Experience with cloud security and network security is desirable.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or Java is a plus.
