Large utility is looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer in Michigan. This Owner's Rep role will review third-party design and coordinate engineering efforts for natural gas compressor station projects, ensuring safety, compliance, quality, and schedule adherence while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and managing technical specifications.

responsibilities:

  • Represent company's interests as Owner's Engineer throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure engineering, equipment, and construction specifications are developed and enforced.
  • Perform moderately complex assignments using standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles, making adaptations and modifications as needed.
  • Coordinate project work between external engineers, material/equipment suppliers, and construction contractors.
  • Support multiple project managers efficiently and effectively.

Skills:

  • Must have a strong understanding of natural gas and balance of plant systems, compressor stations, cooling systems, valve replacements, etc.
  • Reviewing designs for compliance with codes, standards, and constructability.
  • Procurement of engineered materials, equipment, and professional services.
  • Developing and coordinating contract documents (RFPs), engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • CFR 49 Part 192 and Michigan Gas Safety Standards (MGSS).
  • ASME B31.8, B31.3, B31.1, B16.5/16.47, BPVC, etc.
  • API 5L, API 6D, API 1104, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited).
  • 5+ years of applied ABET engineering experience.
