Senior Accountant
As the Senior Accountant for this company, not only will you be responsible for hands-on monthly accounting close and GAAP financial reporting responsibilities, but will also manage the company's fixed asset accounting process, will prepare and review asset classifications and capitalization, and will allocate contribute to other budgeting/forecasting and external reporting activities, among other key duties.
This is a full-time, permanent position with significant growth potential upwards to the Manager/Controller level within 1-2 years in the position ideally. This role offers salaried pay with a 15% bonus target yearly as well as comprehensive benefit coverage, retirement plan, and flexible staffing arrangements/occasional hybrid flexibility.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and performing monthly financial accounting close activities and other traditional GAAP financial reporting functions.
- General ledger accounting functions such as preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, adjustments and other internal reporting activities.
- Management and updating of the General Ledger system, chart of accounts, and any process improvements that might be able to be made.
- Overseeing the complete fixed asset process, including recording new acquisitions, tracking existing assets, and accounting for the disposition of assets.
- Preparing and reviewing personal and real estate property taxes.
- Allocating insurance expenses across various locations on a monthly basis.
- Creating and improving systems of controls, procedures, and forms for efficient recording of fixed assets.
- Consulting with management on accounting considerations during various stages of new capital projects.
- Preparing reports to inform management of incurred costs on current projects in relation to approved budgets.
- Assisting in estimating future depreciation and preparing related files for forecasting purposes.
- Assisting in preparing information for internal and external auditors.
- Employing fundamental accounting skills such as general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable reconciliation.
Requirements & Desired Experience:
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or any Business related field required.
- 3-5+ years of progressive General Ledger accounting experience strongly suggested, but greater level of experience highly encouraged to apply as well.
- Candidate must have strong desire for a growth-oriented position that will progress into a Managerial/Controller level position in the near future.
- Experience within Agriculture, Farming, or Logistics/Distribution industry/industries a strong plus, but not required.
- Proven expertise in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations
- Proficiency in using financial software or company-wide ERP systems
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in general ledger management and journal entries
- Experience in fixed asset accounting including fixed asset accounting for inventory/capital assets/property and related capitalization and depreciation experience a strong plus, but not required.
