Overview:

Emerald is seeking a Sponsorship Manager to join our MJBiz team. MJBizDaily is the most trusted B2B news source for the cannabis industry in the US and Canada, producing online news services, newsletters, magazines, and major trade shows.

The Sponsorship Manager is primarily responsible for developing sponsorship opportunities, identifying and fulfilling deliverables, and serving as the contact for all sponsors at MJBiz events and tradeshows. This position will also support the Event Operations team in the logistical planning of conferences and tradeshows within the MJBiz brand and ensuring all event operations are managed and executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and exceed expectations for our internal and external customers.

The Sponsorship Manager works closely with the Sales team as it pertains to sponsorships and assisting with providing details on existing opportunities and creating custom sponsorships to meet the client’s needs.

NOTE: This is not a sales position.

The Sponsorship Manager will be involved in multiple pre-show, on-site, and post-show tasks. To find success in this position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to find creative solutions, effective time management, the ability to juggle multiple projects with concurrent deadlines, and communicate proactively with both internal and external partners.

The Sponsorship Manager must have exemplary communication and customer service skills.

Although our events are primarily B2B, not open to consumers or enthusiasts, the ideal candidate must be comfortable with the idea of cannabis- business related topics and the overall cannabis culture. Relevant experience for the role is preferred over experience or knowledge of the cannabis industry.

This position will be based out of our Alpharetta, GA office.

Responsibilities:

  • Create sponsorship opportunities for all MJBiz brand events to include packages, branding opportunities, activations, etc.
  • Create and manage available inventory for each opportunity, specifications, deadlines, costs, and other materials as needed.
  • Determine and manage sponsorship inventory.
  • Primary contact for clients post-contracting to provide sponsorship specifications, deadlines, track receipt of deliverables, and support leading up to event.
  • Distribute sponsorship deliverables to appropriate department and/or vendor for onsite fulfillment.
  • Confirm all sponsorship items are received, installed, and fulfilled onsite.
  • Support Event Operations Director with pre-show planning and onsite execution as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience planning professional events (business-to-business experience preferred) with understanding of meeting and event planning principles, requirements, and procedures
  • Experience with sponsorship development and fulfillment required
  • Comfortable with large scale events of 30,000+ attendees and 1400+ exhibiting companies
  • Proven experience in supporting high touch projects and events from conception to execution
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and communication skills
  • Positive attitude and team player approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience with monday.com, a2z/Personify, Salesforce preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Target Compensation: $65,000-$75,000 (Bonus Eligible)

Please note that this range reflects a reasonable estimate of the target compensation for this position. This range may ultimately vary based on a candidate’s qualifications and may be higher where required by applicable law.
