Job Title: Painting Estimator

Location: Oregon (Portland Metro area)

Position Type: Part-time (on-call), hourly

This is a hybrid opportunity where much of the work can be done from home. The work may also include on-site meetings with the client from time to time, as well as site check-in's.

Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Painting Estimator to join our team. You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of commercial and residential projects, including multi-family housing units (50+ units), interior and exterior work, and parking lot striping.

This is a part-time, on-call position with the opportunity to provide one to two estimates per week.

Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for commercial painting projects, including multi-family units (50+ units) for both interior and exterior work.
Conduct thorough site assessments to determine project scope, material needs, potential challenges, and ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations.
Utilize Bluebeam software to create, edit, and analyze design drawings, including takeoffs for paint quantities using preferred software like On-Screen Takeoff (OST) or similar programs.
Assess pavement striping needs for parking lots and airport facilities, following Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) standards.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and clients to understand project requirements, specifications, budgets, and ensure adherence to OSHA safety protocols.
Generate estimates that consider labor, materials, equipment, permits, OSHA compliance costs, and other relevant costs.
Prepare proposals and presentations to effectively communicate project scope, pricing, and safety considerations to clients.
Provide one to two estimates per week and meet deadlines consistently.
Follow up with clients and project teams to address questions, adjust estimates based on feedback, and ensure clear communication regarding safety protocols.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills when interacting with clients, subcontractors, and team members.

Technology Usage:
Bluebeam: Used for creating, editing, and analyzing design drawings, including takeoffs.
Procore: Primarily used for project management tasks related to estimating, communication, and collaboration.
PlanHub (optional): Specifically used for bidding management and collaboration during the estimation process.

On-Screen Takeoff (OST) or similar software (preferred).

Requirements: Minimum 2 years of experience in estimating commercial painting work, with a focus on large commercial buildings.

Proven ability to prepare accurate and competitive estimates.
Proficiency in using Bluebeam for design work and generating takeoffs using OST or similar software.
Strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with the Procore platform for project management (a plus).
Experience with OSHA compliance in the construction industry.

Availability for on-call work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Oregon-specific requirements for painting and striping, including ODOT standards for pavement markings.

Experience in estimating for multi-family housing projects (50+ units).
Understanding of LEED or other green building standards (a plus).
Experience working with the Port of Portland (a plus).

Interest in working part-time and flexibility with hours.
