In this role, you will play a critical role for the company and will work alongside other professionals within the team and other departments. You will be responsible for the daily operations of the Service and Administrative departments.
The position is responsible for organizing, prioritizing, and executing service work by ensuring that all departments work cohesively and efficiently to meet customer demands. The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for supervising all service departments including the service office, service shop, and the parts departments.
The position performs technical, administrative, warranty, and customer service analysis to ensure conflict resolution and exceptional customer service. The Regional Operations Manager demonstrates comprehensive communication skills with all departments, both corporate and local facilities.

Responsibilities:

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:

  • Responsible for ensuring all departments operate efficiently ensuring all operations are performing optimally in a cost-effective manner.
  • Reviews and improves operational management systems such as processes and best practices.
  • Assist all department managers to ensure on time vehicle delivery with exceptional customer service.
  • Works with all corporate departments to ensure the facility remains legally compliant with licensing, staffing, and facility management.
  • Develop quarterly and yearly strategic and operational objectives with continuous review to ensure objectives are achieved on time.
  • Participate in corporate financial reviews of local facilities and analyze the data to develop improvement plans and goals to continuously improve profitability.
  • Assist the Regional Vice President with managing facility budgets and forecasts.
  • Work with all department to develop and perform quality controls and KPIs.
  • Manage and supervise the Service Department operations and personnel which includes the following departments:
  • Service Office
  • Service Shop
  • Parts Department
  • DMV & Warranty Staff
  • Sales Coordinators
  • Assist managers with hiring, discipline, and termination of staff.
  • Responsible for the management of the Service Manager at each of the local facilities, which duties include:
  • Schedule and prioritize service work to ensure on time delivery to customers minimizing vehicle down time.
  • Oversees the implementation and maintenance of the paper flow system.
  • Responsible for opening, closing, and securing the facility.
  • Manages vehicle deliveries and pick up to/from customer locations.
  • Communicates with sales and administration (DMV & Accounting) making sure that all necessary. paperwork is received from other departments and that all shop paperwork is completed and provided to other departments timely.
  • Coordination of all sublet services, including weight, smog, fueling, body shops, etc.
  • Manage input into the operating system (timely input of bus arrival forms, bus completion forms, and any vehicle location changes).
  • Maintain production scheduled for all facilities
  • Responsible for assisting the Senior Transportation Manager with bus inventory and always knowing the location of vehicles.
  • Provides technical training and mentorship to all departments and employees.
  • Responsible for high level conflict resolution with customers and vendors
  • Elevates fleet defects or specific issues such as thermal events to the Corporate Service and Warranty team
  • Maintains high level customer relationships to ensure customer demands exceed expectations.
  • Coordinates vendor training and is responsible for ensuring mandatory training requirements exceed requirements.
  • Manages building safety, security, maintenance, and repairs. Budgeting for capital expenditures.
  • Responsible for building inspections and other regulatory agency requirements including City, Fire, AQMD, City, County, State & Federal and required employer postings.
  • Employee training, certification, and education
  • Ensure all employees meet Federal, State, and Local training regulations
  • Company Safety Representative. Must be aware of potential safety issues and facilitate the improvements and/or changes.

Qualifications:

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Five plus years’ experience in fleet maintenance management.
  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience
  • Understanding of the operation of the Service departments and the support of the sales and interaction with the Administrative/Accounting departments.
  • Excellent mechanical/technical understanding of buses.
  • Good understanding of the bus industry and the needs of our customers.
  • Professional demeanor and cooperative attitude.
  • Highly organized.
  • Good writing and oral communication skills.
  • Able to think strategically and project future growth to insure proper systems are in place.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
  • Good understanding of government regulations and technical procedures.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as product and service markups and discounts, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to collect data, defines problems, interpret technical instructions, and reach reasonable conclusions.
  • High level of Technical Certifications/Degree, understanding AQMD/CARB/Title13
Physical Requirements
  • May be required to do frequent kneeling, stooping, squatting, crawling, and climbing to perform multiple tasks of position.
  • Must have good manual dexterity
  • Must have the ability to push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs.

Pay Range: $95,000 to $120,000
