We currently have an opportunity for a well-rounded and seasoned Jr. Staff Accountant to join our Pier Sixty-Six Resort opening team!

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance the Jr. Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing the hotel’s financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations. This role involves preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and supporting the hotel’s financial operations to maintain its 5-star standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
  • Provide administrative support to Division Heads with reference to policy enforcement, business advice and operational assistance
  • Execute the Finance Department’s daily routines to ensure smooth, effective, and efficient daily work practices
  • Ensure that all of the Finance staff are able to understand and follow the applicable policies and procedures that are outlined in the Company’s finance policies and procedures manual
  • Review financial performance of department/area, analysis of variances, forecasts and budgets.
  • Assist the Senior Staff Accountant with the analysis and interpretation of the financial data and its communication to the operations. The Junior Staff Account will also assist with and complete, as needed, the analysis of the balance sheet accounts and the preparation of the monthly internal benchmarking and operational performance analysis reports.
  • Support Payroll Manager while performing their daily tasks.
  • Ensure that all laws and fiscal regulations of all Payroll related tasks, which effect financial matters of the hotel, will be complied with.
  • Ensure all Payroll tasks are completed and payroll is submitted on time to provider
  • Complete and audit Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations and monthly taxes, as assigned by the Senior Staff Accountant
  • Ensure control systems are monitored and audited on a daily, as documented by Audit Services, to measure compliance with internal controls

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: In Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Advanced Degrees: Some positions may prefer or require a Master’s Degree for advanced expertise.
  • Industry Experience: Proven experience as an accountant in the hotel or hospitality industry.
  • Financial Management: Experience in managing daily financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and overseeing payroll.
  • Accounting Principles: Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of financial policies and regulations.
