We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Lead to join our team.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Shipley business development methodologies, exceptional writing skills, and a proven track record in both external and internal sales. The role demands a proactive individual who excels in customer-facing interactions, networking, and supporting government clients, including the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Business Development:
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities in government markets, with a focus on DoD and DHS contracts.
- Develop and implement strategic growth plans using Shipley methodologies.
- Lead market research efforts to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Proposal Development and Writing:
- Develop and contribute to high-quality proposals, including compliance matrices, executive summaries, and technical narratives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver compelling, customer-focused proposals.
- Ensure proposal content aligns with client requirements and company objectives.
- Sales and Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government clients and stakeholders.
- Conduct client-facing meetings, presentations, and demonstrations to identify customer needs and align solutions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external clients and internal teams regarding business development activities.
- Networking and Partnerships:
- Leverage professional networks to establish partnerships and collaborations.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with internal sales and marketing teams to align strategies and meet revenue targets.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on pipeline activities, progress, and forecasts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a similar role, with a focus on government clients.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of Shipley business development methodologies.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with experience in proposal development.
- Strong ability to network and establish meaningful professional relationships.
- Familiarity with federal acquisition processes, particularly in the DoD and DHS sectors.
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience using CRM tools to manage sales pipelines and client interactions.
- Knowledge of federal contracting vehicles and compliance requirements.
- Certification in Shipley or similar proposal management training.
