About Our Client
Our Client is a well known GC who focuses on retail / restaurant and hotel construction throughout the Northeast
Job Description- Pre-Construction Estimating: Prepare accurate cost estimates for retail and restaurant construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Bid Preparation: Lead the bid preparation process, including gathering quotes, analyzing subcontractor proposals, and preparing bid packages for submission to clients.
- Project Scope Reviews: Review project drawings, specifications, and scope documents to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure all elements are captured in estimates.
- Value Engineering: Provide value engineering recommendations to meet client budget constraints while maintaining project quality and integrity.
- Subcontractor/Vendor Coordination: Solicit and negotiate pricing from subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
- Budget Management: Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to track project costs and update estimates as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies during the pre-construction phase.
- Client Communication: Maintain open communication with clients and stakeholders regarding project estimates, revisions, and changes.
- Software Utilization: Utilize estimating software such as ProEst, PlanSwift, or Bluebeam, as well as project management software like Microsoft Project and Primavera, to compile estimates.
- Reporting: Provide detailed reports and cost analysis for internal and client review.

The Successful Applicant- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a construction estimator, with specific experience in retail and restaurant projects up to $15 million.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in estimating software (ProEst, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, etc.) and project management software (Microsoft Project, Primavera).
- Skills:
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and building codes.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
- Certifications: LEED certification or PMP certification preferred but not required.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to produce highly accurate estimates and foresee potential challenges in the project scope.
- Experience with value engineering and cost-saving techniques specific to the retail/restaurant sector.
- Familiarity with design-build project delivery methods.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior estimators.
