MAJOR FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Shipping Supervisor, the Shipping & Receiving Team Lead is responsible for supporting efforts to meet plant wide goals through training, utilization of work instructions and standard operating procedures. Areas of focus will include shipping and receiving, material control, inventory control, warehouse 5S activities, backup for supervisor custom service functions as deemed necessary for the success of the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintain daily floor operations
Shipping and Receiving- Verifies and compares identifying information - counts, weights, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, and routes.
- Ensure that items are loaded onto shipment vehicle in a safe and timely manner.
- Ensures all incoming items are received and all shipments are scheduled and shipped per release.
- Identify, label and pull parts and move to the correct warehouse location or manufacturing production line.
- Perform Plex transactions pertaining to material control requirements.
- Ensure the proper handling and condition of product being moved to ensure product is moved in a safe manner and delivered without damage.
- Ensures all raw materials are appropriately labeled with relevant dates.
- Coordinate and handle space arrangements for incoming shipments in the storage areas.
- Trained and operate in accordance with guidelines on handling/storage/packaging/shipping of hazardous materials.
- Utilize power lifting equipment: pallet jack, forklift, stand-up, etc.
- Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
- Coordinates and oversees the daily cycle counts of production materials.
- Take part in year-end and general inventory procedures.
- Answer / review customer portals, backup supervisor and customer service functions. Ford, Toyota, Mercedes and other applicable customers.
- Schedule expedites, cube out, and deviations as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, have sufficient knowledge of all equipment used by department and any safety requirements during its operation.
- Maintains safety and cleanliness of work area by performing housekeeping duties.
- Drives/supports continuous improvement process and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement of department.
- Authorized/expected to be able to perform all activities of associates within team.
- Assumes other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Associates degree preferred or 3+ years relevant experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong leadership skills & warehouse experience
- Exceptional communication both verbal and non-verbal
- Prioritization and time management skills
- Organization and attention to detail
- Positive attitude and teamwork
- Multi-tasking and comfort in a fast-paced environment
- Good computer skills
- Experience in LTL Freight & UPS, USPS small parcel shipping
- Knowledge of shipping rules, regulations, classifications, manifests
- Forklift experience required.
