Job Description Summary

The Senior Manager of Corporate Warehousing is accountable for the physical and financial performance of the Warehousing vertical within the broader Corporate Distribution team.

Essential Functions
  • Lead, develop, and mentor associates both directly and indirectly reporting to the incumbent.
  • Oversight and management of raw material procurement process to support the Waukegan plant.
  • Develop and maintain corporate warehouse policy and SOP’s and ensure all warehouse locations develop local policy in support of corporate policy and operate in line with corporate policy with the support of the Director Corporate Distribution.
  • Own relationship with and provide operational oversight to all company warehouse locations, inclusive of plant location and 3PL operated facilities in the network inclusive of site-to-site transfer of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Set and manage performance expectations (productivity, cost, OS&D, service, inventory control) for company warehouse locations and plant warehouses with the support of the Director Corporate Distribution.
  • Oversee the CHEP program at all locations, ensuring that each facility understands expectations regarding ordering, inventory management and portal entries. Ensure regular inventory control audits are occurring and follow up with local operations leaders as needed.
  • Develop annual budget for each plant and non-plant attached warehouse AND review/provide oversight to plants on the development of their in-site warehouse budgets. Roll up the total warehouse budget line and manage spend vs. plan and loss elimination monthly to deliver budget expectations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to formulate and implement warehousing and upstream/downstream related procedures in support of company revenue goals and customer service objectives.
  • Develop metrics and dashboards to analyze and explain warehousing costs, inventory control, productivity, service, and variances to plan in any area with the support of the Director Corporate Distribution.
  • Oversee inventory control programs and results at plant warehouses and forward DC’s
  • Develop plant and adjacent warehouse SOP’s so activities and results are predictable site to site and best practices from one facility are being used in all.
  • Leverage metrics and dashboards to assess performance vs. expectations and work with the sites to identify and implement improvements.
  • Develop and lead RFP’s for warehouse facilities and effectively start-up/shut down facilities as needed with the support of the Director Corporate Distribution.
  • Become an operational expert on the company WMS system and provide support to sites as needed. Liaise with IT resources where their support is required to fix problems or implement new capability.
  • Complete weekly book to book inventory audits with all forward warehouse locations. Reconcile issues and engage when results do not meet expectations.
  • Ensure all warehouse locations are tracking damage, shrink and OS&D and ensure loss rates are in line with or better than industry expectations and contractual commitments.
  • Act as a loss elimination zealot. Continually challenge current operating norms to optimize service, cost and cash.
  • Assess and develop plans to effectively integrate acquired businesses with the support of the Director Corporate Distribution.
  • Travel to Eagle operations and office locations, as requested, to support problem investigation, training, and auditing of Eagle practices and to support project activity.
  • Identify, lead, and participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Own Warehousing vendor invoice audit, reconciliation, recording, challenges, and approval.
  • Develop and publish Ad Hoc and/or periodic reports that inform the organization of any current or potential for any future issues.
  • Maintain dotted line responsibility to Plant Directors for scope of role that directly impacts plant operations.
  • Partner with other supply chain verticals and collaborate cross functionally – R&D, sales, marketing, finance to drive company performance and meet business needs including cost take out for Eagle or customer benefit
  • Develop comparative, normalized, performance reporting for all warehouse locations and use it to identify opportunities for improvement (service, cost, cash)

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive management experience in distribution. Ideally the candidate will have experience with truckload and LTL freight, direct and distributor delivery models, and warehouse operations. Small company experience is valued.
  • 5+ years of direct people management, preferable in both the warehouse and corporate setting.
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Have a demonstrated track record of driving change, building organizational capabilities and infrastructure
  • Travel: In aggregate 20%; will vary monthly based on business needs.
  • A deep understanding of data and analytics in the distribution space.
  • Track record of controlling cost and delivering continuous improvement in transportation and warehousing operations
  • Proven performance and success progressing into positions of increasing responsibility.
  • Data and analytics – experience personally building dashboards to regularly assess operational performance and identify loss recovery opportunities, Strong desire to manage through metrics and data.
