Product Materials Engineer

Responsibilities:
As a Product Materials Engineer (PME), you will help Keysight Technologies bring Opto-electronic & Opto-mechanical designs to market by providing support through sourcing engineering and supplier selection services to internal R&D customers as well as supporting current production business.
This position is an integral part of the Sourcing team working on the latest existing production and R&D designs with a focus on high quality designs and aggressive time-to-market scheduling in one of Keysight’s fastest growing industry segments.
You will provide the following services to internal R&D and Production teams:
- Interface with suppliers to review technical questions on performance and quality.
- Optical, Opto-mechanical, and electro-optic assemblies, test and measurement.
- Knowledge of fabrication, assembly, process control of optical, opto-mechanical assembly manufacturing.
- Clean room cleanliness knowledge, including test lab services for surface and air quality analysis.
- Coordinated quality resolution activities to support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on part failures or production quality issues during the NPI phase and production phase.
- Development of supplier needs based on new or existing technology capabilities - This may include new capabilities involving optical fabrication, optical test and process control in manufacturing.
- Assist with supply chain quoting and purchasing collaboration.
- Assist with supply chain on supplier management of quality issues.
- Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to R&D and engineering for part fabrication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Physics, or other related science discipline
- Minimum of 4 to 5 years of relevant experience with the following:
- Test, fabrication and analysis techniques for fibers, lasers, electro optics.
- Knowledge of optical component requirements, fabrication techniques, and methods.
- Ability to utilize and interpret 2D & 3D CAD data effectively, with appropriate modeling software.
- Familiarity with BOM structuring and product lifecycles.
- Knowledge of clean room performance parameters.
- Familiarity with optical metrology test and measurement
- Ability to work independently with limited direction and take initiative. Travel to supplier sites as needed.
- Ability to work with limited process documentation.
- Excellent team working ability as well as self-motivation, innovation and individual contribution.
- Experience interfacing with suppliers
- Demonstrable project management and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Tools
- Ability to travel internationally
- Job is on-site in Santa Clara, CA. The nature of this role requires cross functional interfacing and problem solving.

Santa Clara, CA pay range: MIN $133,000- MAX $223,000Note: For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region
