The Systems Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, including servers, networks, and related infrastructure. This role involves ensuring system uptime, performance, security, and availability for all users.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled and experienced IT professional with a deep understanding of system administration principles and best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and system utilities.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal uptime and availability.
- Implement and maintain system security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
- Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery planning.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages or other tools.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor and analyze system logs to identify and resolve potential problems.
- Collaborate with other IT staff to design and implement new systems and solutions.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Provide technical support to end-users for system-related issues.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and security threats.
- Adhere to company IT policies and procedures.
- Manage vendor relationships for hardware and software support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA Server+) are a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Knowledge of database administration (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with IT automation and orchestration tools.
