Leadership & Community Engagement

Job Summary

Serve as a vital member of the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement. Provide direct assistance and guidance on the implementation of effective service-learning pedagogies and partnerships.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with faculty to enhance teaching and learning strategies pertaining to the implementation and utilization of service-learning in the academic classroom
  • Communicates community-identified needs to potential campus partners and serves as a resource regarding emerging partnership opportunities
  • Oversee Service-Learning Facilitator program to include recruitment, selection, and training student facilitators and placing them with faculty partners
  • Convene and guide the Service-Learning Faculty Fellows group and activities advocating for and supporting the use of service-learning as an effective pedagogy
  • Coordinate Institute for Community Partnerships
  • Teach leadership courses within the office¿s co-curricular leadership program
  • Represent unit and University at recruitment events
  • Supervise at least (1) graduate assistant and community engagement professional staff members
  • Develop new partnerships and strengthen existing relationships, by conducting site visits, attending community events and meetings
  • Advance institutionalization of Service-Learning on campus and in the field by serving on relevant committees and council (campus, local, state, national, international) and by presenting at relevant conferences
  • Oversee programming budgets including service-learning, alternative breaks, and community engagement
  • Manage events and special initiatives that build, support, and reiterate service-learning and community engagement knowledge and skills
  • Set vision and strategic plan/priorities for Community Engagement team to support university efforts
  • Serve as an advisor for the Georgia Southern Statesboro campus circle of Omicron Delta Kappa

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Team building experience
  • Experience with strategic planning and asset based community development

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Program development, implementation and assessment experience
Preferred Education
  • Master's Degree in higher education administration, student personnel administration or related field
  • Teaching experience in higher education Program development, implementation and assessment experience

Proposed Salary

$55,000

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
