Pre-press production coordinator
Overview:
The Quality Control & Pre-Press Coordinator ensures that incoming orders are within all required specifications per drawings and work instructions. It is the Quality Control Coordinator’s responsibility to implement good documentation practices (GDP) and proper material identification, preventing nonconforming designs from continuing through the process without proper approval, to ensure that the customer gets signage that function and communicate their message properly every time.
Responsibilities:
- Interprets and inspects SOs, Proofs, and design files (most from Illustrator)
- Communicates expeditiously with designers and/or sales team to ensure corrections and adjustments are processed as quickly as possible
- Notifies manager of reconciled orders that need special attention
- Reviews and provides feedback on procedures, policies, and processes
- Performs random in-process audits with designated designers, document continuous improvement opportunities when other tasks are complete
- Pre-Press Set-up
- Ensure that the proper format, appearance, and layout of text and images is set before the full print run for large format printing and production.
- Transfer designs to specific printer specific set-ups. Separating PRINT, PLEX & ROUTES.
- Setting up and uploading files for nesting in specified RIP & nesting software. (Trufit)
- Troubleshooting prepress problems or addressing management or customer concerns
- Acts as primary point of contact; identifies challenges, inefficiencies, or areas of opportunity and communicates them to the manager
- Participates and provides feedback and ideas in problem solving meetings as required
- Implements process improvements according to plan developed by the manager
- Attends and provides feedback in after-action reviews following the implementation of process improvement projects
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prior experience in signage design and production field preferred
- Prior inspection experience preferred
- Prior experience with RIP & nesting software
- Knowledge of machining is a plus
- Adobe Illustrator software
