Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Technician/Approvals Assistant to support our department.

The Lab Technician/Approvals Assistant is responsible for supporting the Lab Manager in their daily duties.

The ideal candidate will be able to work indoor and outdoors to take waste samples prior to receipt from tankers that are routed to a designated area .

Assist in sample prep for analysis, run analytical equipment, interpreting data results, and record results in a timely fashion,manually input data and scan manifests into the Shamrock Waste Tracking System, a.k.a., MouseTrapp.

The Lab Tech will also clean and maintain the lab, equipment and glassware.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

Collect and Analyze Sample
  • Physically assisiting in loading and unloading of tanker trucks will be required
  • Collect (climbing onto truck) waste sample prior to receipt and analyze samples to identify operational status of treatment processes and follow approved protocols and prepare DMRs
  • Perform review and approval or denial of waste profile from incoming tanker.
  • Review each customers profile for completeness and accuacy.
  • Compare all lab reports to ensure all analyses have been completed and accurate.
Sample Preparation
  • Accurately prepare samples for analysis, following established protocols.
  • Ensure proper labeling and storage of samples.
Data Collection
  • Utilize laboratory equipment to collect precise and reliable data.
  • Record data accurately and meticulously in laboratory notebooks or electronic systems.
Equipment Maintenance
  • Regularly clean and calibrate laboratory equipment to maintain optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report issues to the appropriate personnel.
Quality Control
  • Adhere to strict quality control standards to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Participate in quality assurance audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
Laboratory Safety
  • Prioritize laboratory safety by following all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and handle hazardous materials with care.
Administrative Tasks
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of laboratory supplies.Review customer waste profile
  • Perform waste management decision in compliance with permits and various regulatory requirementsProvide technical supportCollect and analyze samples

  • Write Reports
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace
  • Various other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Background in environmental industrial science, chemistry, biology, or a related field.
  • Laboratory knowledge and techniques.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn specific software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with environmental sampling and analysis.
  • Knowledge of specific laboratory instruments.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and standards.
  • Licensed operation of a forklift is a plus.
