We are offering an opportunity in the insurance industry at our FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio location. The position is focused on the job function of a Database Administrator. The role involves managing and maintaining our organization's database systems, including their installation, configuration, and upgrading.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management and maintenance of the organization's database systems.
  • Conduct audits on database systems to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks and other issues.
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability during system failures or emergencies.
  • Investigate and resolve database-related issues, including performance problems, data corruption, and connectivity issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Implement and maintain database security policies, access controls, and encryption mechanisms to protect data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Create and maintain databases by identifying and solving database requirements that support users.
  • Provide planning, installation, configuration, administration, support, and general consulting internally.
  • Develop and administer assigned databases in a high availability environment, including database clustering and replication, monitoring, database backup, restore and recovery processes, security, capacity management, data modeling, and user access.
  • Analyze and determine information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.
  • Administer database software, including the creation of ad-hoc reports and data visualization services utilizing various data sources.
  • Coordinate with internal software development teams on design, implementation, and updates to the database infrastructure.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Cognos, Microsoft SQL, and Microsoft Power BI. • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in database administration.
  • Proficiency in using Cognos is a crucial requirement for this role.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL is essential.
  • Knowledge and experience in utilizing Microsoft Power BI is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • Expertise in database design and data modeling is required.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Familiarity with database management and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in installing, configuring, and maintaining database systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and ETL techniques.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices for database administration.
  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
