We are offering a contract-to-hire opportunity for an Assistant Controller in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will play a crucial part in handling the financial aspects of our operations, including assisting with tax preparations, managing accounts receivable, and ensuring accurate lease accounting.
This position is ideally suited for someone with in-depth knowledge of income tax accounting and a keen eye for detail.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake the preparation tasks for the 2024 tax period, including W2, 1099, and foreign student taxes
- Oversee non-student billing as part of accounts receivable management
- Utilize your skills in lease accounting to ensure all records and processes are accurate
- Bring your audit experience to the forefront, assisting in the auditing processes
- Leverage your CPA skills and Higher Ed experience, though not mandatory, to enhance your performance in this role
- Help in maintaining the fiscal year operations starting from June 1st.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven work experience as an Assistant Controller or similar role.
- Proficiency in income tax accounting is a must.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with various departments.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification would be advantageous.
