Position: Medical Laboratory Technician

Location: Portland, OR

Schedule: Night Shift: 11PM – 07:30 AM Mon – Fri ; rotating weekend

Duration: 6 months (with potential for permanent placement)

Your Role:

  • Evaluate specimen acceptability based on established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures aligned with SOPs.
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot lab instruments.
  • Prepare, test, and assess new reagents or controls.
  • Deliver accurate and timely test results to ensure quality patient care.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and document quality control activities.
  • Support specimen processing and maintain supply inventory.
  • Adhere to safety standards and use appropriate PPE.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • Certification: ASCP or AMT certified candidates preferred; eligible candidates must obtain certification within 6 months.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology (or as required by CLIA & State regulations).
  • Key Skills:
  • Technical proficiency in routine and complex laboratory procedures.
  • Expertise in bacterial culture reading.
  • Instrumentation troubleshooting and technical decision-making.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (a plus).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
