You’ll work closely with game designers, developers, and product teams to uncover trends, identify issues, and implement data-driven solutions that improve performance and monetization.
Requirements- Extract and interpret game data: Use SQL queries to retrieve and analyze large datasets from Roblox games, identifying trends in player behavior, engagement, and monetization.
- Uncover and solve game design issues: Detect imbalances, exploits, and engagement drop-offs (e.g., currency hoarding, level skipping) and collaborate with developers to create effective solutions.
- Optimize game performance and engagement: Leverage data-driven insights to enhance game mechanics, UI/UX, and overall player experience.
- Design and execute A/B testing: Run controlled experiments to measure the impact of new features, gameplay adjustments, and content updates on player retention and monetization.
- Support live-service updates: Identify key engagement trends between updates and develop strategies to maintain player interest over time.
- Track and improve monetization strategies: Analyze in-game purchases, player progression, and economic trends to maintain a fair and engaging game economy.
- Develop real-time analytics dashboards: Create clear, interactive reports using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity: Implement validation processes to maintain clean, reliable datasets and troubleshoot discrepancies in analytics.
- Present actionable insights: Translate complex data into clear recommendations for game designers, developers, and marketing teams to align data-driven insights with business goals.
- Work cross-functionally: Partner with game designers, developers, and marketing teams to ensure data-driven decision-making aligns with player engagement strategies.
- Stay ahead of gaming analytics trends: Research industry best practices, new data tools, and emerging trends to enhance Sawhorse’s analytics capabilities.
- Monitor competitor performance: Conduct benchmarking research to understand market positioning and identify opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
A strong candidate for this position should have the following qualities:
- Proficiency in SQL and database management: Ability to write complex queries, extract insights, and handle large datasets efficiently.
- Experience with game analytics tools: Familiarity with analytics tracking systems for gaming platforms, preferably Roblox Studio, Luau scripting, and custom event tracking.
- A/B testing and statistical analysis expertise: Understanding of hypothesis testing, experiment design, and interpreting results to drive decisions.
- Data visualization & reporting: Experience using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to create clear, insightful reports and dashboards.
- Strong understanding of game design principles: Passion for gaming with a deep understanding of player psychology, engagement loops, and monetization mechanics.
- Experience in live-service game analytics: Ability to track engagement patterns, optimize player retention strategies, and adapt to evolving gameplay dynamics.
- Background in game economy balancing: Knowledge of virtual economies, currency sinks, and in-game purchasing behaviors.
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights: Strong analytical skills with a keen ability to identify trends and recommend improvements in game design and player engagement.
- Exceptional communication skills: Ability to present complex data findings in a clear, digestible way to both technical and non-technical teams.
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset: Ability to work independently, identify problems, and develop creative data-driven solutions with minimal direction.
- Experience with mobile gaming analytics: Knowledge of data tracking and analysis for free-to-play mobile games.
- Scripting or coding experience: Familiarity with Python, R, or other statistical programming languages for advanced data analysis.
- Experience working on user-generated content platforms: Roblox preferred, but experience with UGC gaming platforms is a plus.
- Knowledge of AI in gaming: Understanding how AI and machine learning can enhance player experiences and game optimization.
- Hourly Rate: $30 – $46 (This is a Freelance position and hours may vary)
