Bancroft is currently seeking an Senior Accountant to join our Accounting department in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Responsibilities:
Performs routine to highly complex accounting activities, analyzes financial data, and prepares related external cost reports and internal and external financial reports, in compliance with state fiscal rules particularly the New Jersey Department of Education.Ensures compliance with Bancroft policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Continuously identifies and facilitates process improvements
- Independently reviews, monitors and analyzes revenue/expense data for organizational accounts; ensures compliance with state education funding and reporting requirements, approved Bancroft accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles:
- Reviews and analyzes monthly revenue and expense accounts to ensure proper recording in the General Ledger. Prepares necessary journal entries with supporting documentation to appropriately adjust accounts. Generates monthly General Ledger reports, detailing income/expenses incurred by each Program, to compare budgeted/forecasted versus actual data for review by Accounting leadership.
- Completes the end-of-month closing process in accordance with established closing schedule.
- Generates profit and loss and related reports from the Accounting System and performs variance analysis of budgeted/forecasted to actual expenses. Performs necessary research to identify and resolve account discrepancies, interreacts with appropriate parties in compiling specific account information and, upon resolution, inputs data into Accounting System for transfer to General Ledger; makes journal entries for expense accruals, as necessary.
- Prepares monthly accounts receivable workpapers and reconciles accounts to General Ledger.
- Updates and maintains monthly revenue detail and summary schedule for Accounting leadership review.
- Coordinates timely annual back billing and settlement payments, updates workpapers and facilitates collections and/or payments due to and from school districts on an ongoing
- Assists Accounting Manager - Education in the timely completion of quarterly and annual State of New Jersey Department of Education financial reports, annual audits and annual budget.
- Works closely with school business administrator by facilitating the exchange of financial information and communication between Accounting and the Education Service Line. This includes but is not limited to: revenue analysis, expense variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting and general support.
- Interacts with external auditors as well as internal Finance staff and providers accounting data, as required.
- Performs other duties and special assignments, as required. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments, based on organizational and departmental needs.
- Upon request, willingly cooperates with senior management, or any federal, state or local agency or licensing authority, in connection with ongoing inspections and investigations.
- Remains current with required training certifications, meets state-regulated licensing and regulatory accreditations, and adheres to mandatory requirements.

- Maintains effective verbal and written communications with colleagues, those served, and their family members and/or guardians when applicable.

Qualifications:
- BS in Accounting required with a minimum of five years of experience in the accounting field
- CPA preferred.
