Our client is a well-established, rapidly growing construction company with a reputation for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. Their team is committed to excellence, innovation, and integrity at every stage of the construction process.

They are seeking an experienced Buyer on a temp-to-hire basis to handle the procurement of materials, equipment, and services vital to our ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing:

  • Identify and evaluate reliable vendors and suppliers for construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Obtain and compare bids, negotiate pricing and terms, and ensure compliance with project specifications.

Purchase Order Management:

  • Issue and manage purchase orders (POs) in accordance with project timelines and budgets.
  • Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to forecast and track material requirements.

Vendor & Supplier Relations:

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any order discrepancies or quality issues.
  • Monitor vendor performance and negotiate contracts or agreements as needed.

Inventory & Cost Control:

  • Track material usage and inventory levels to support just-in-time procurement strategies.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategic initiatives to optimize spending.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Ensure all procurement documentation is accurately maintained and properly filed.
  • Remain up to date on industry regulations, company policies, and project requirements related to purchasing.

Collaboration & Process Improvement:

  • Partner with internal stakeholders—including project managers, estimators, and accounting—to streamline procurement workflows.
  • Recommend best practices or system enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Familiarity with construction materials, equipment, and pricing structures is highly desirable.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to foster effective supplier relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
