This is a part-time non-eligible position limited to 1,000 hours per year.
General Summary:
Posting Description – when assigned to Campground
Employees of this classification perform routine, manual and/or clerical customer service duties, assisting higher level employees involved in the general maintenance and operations of County owned and operated campgrounds. Depending on the work assignment, may operate a point of sale computer system for customer service or groundskeeping equipment such as lawn mowers, tractors or equipment and vehicles for grounds maintenance tasks.
Contact station staff utilize a point-of-sale computer system to process customer service transactions from in person guests or over the phone that include write permits and tickets for overnight or day use by campers and park patrons. Issue receipts and account for cash received from park users and answer public inquiries regarding directions, park procedures, and information regarding reservations and the renting of park equipment.
Maintenance staff perform groundskeeping duties including mowing using power equipment and tractors, trash removal, tree maintenance including planting, pruning, and line trimming, and custodial duties in restrooms, rentals, and public areas.May assist with preventive and general maintenance work required in the construction, renovation, and general maintenance and repair of Parks and Recreation buildings, projects, facilities, and grounds.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Be at least 16 years old and a high school graduate; OR have completed the State requirements for a G.E.D. certificate; OR be an emancipated minor; OR have passed their 18th birthday.
- Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license. Out of country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.
- Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.
- Successfully complete the six month probationary period.
Special Requirements:
Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur’s license.
Pay Range: USD $15.42 - USD $15.42 /Hr.
