The director will foster cross-functional and system-wide relationships beyond the department of quality and patient safety in a highly multidisciplinary and complex role. Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the director leads, plans, coordinates, and oversees all operations of the quality and patient safety program for the acute and critical access hospitals.
This includes oversight of all regulatory and accreditation standards (including Disease Specific Care certifications), patient safety, customer satisfaction, and organizational performance measurement. This role will analyze operations and clinical outcomes to determine necessary process improvements.
The director will oversee root cause analysis on case reviews and report findings to the leadership team. The role will work collaboratively with hospital staff and leadership teams to develop and implement education programs throughout the hospital to support process improvements which will drive the organization toward high reliability.
The director works collaboratively with Long Term Care to support cross-functional quality and performance improvement initiatives between the LTC setting and the Acute and Critical Access Hospitals. QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Minimum:

Bachelor's Degree in nursing

Preferred:

Master's Degree in Healthcare, Business, or related field

LICENSE:

Minimum: NYS Registered Nurse License

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:

Preferred:

Certification in Health Care Quality Management must take exam within one year of hire.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

Five years of progressive leadership in an acute care hospital environment, with an extensive background in healthcare operations, including specific involvement in quality, patient safety|risk management, infection prevention, and regulatory affairs.

Demonstrated understanding and successful implementation of continuous quality improvement methodologies with data mining and analysis experience and reporting findings.

Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing sustainable performance improvement processes

Expert knowledge in federal and state valuebased performance|payment initiatives

Ability to think and problem-solve from a system-wide perspective, while employing strong analytical skills.

Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills to deal effectively with all levels of hospital staff, the public, and external agencies. (i.e., DOH, The Joint Commission HANYS, CMS, etc.)

Preferred:

Previous experience with Microsoft products such as word, excel and PowerPoint.
