In response to the humanitarian crisis at America’s ports of entry, Devereux provides short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without their legal guardian. Devereux will provide extremely high-quality, trauma-informed residential and educational services for unaccompanied children, with intense supports for their social and emotional health.We will also ensure they receive excellent and immediate physical healthcare including pediatric, dental and nutritional supports for every child.
Devereux’s ultimate goal is to ensure every refugee child who receives our services is successfully and quickly discharged into the loving care of their family sponsor and, during the short time they are with us, have received best-in-class medical, therapeutic, recreational and educational services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey.This is a very high benchmark to set, but we have already begun partnering with leading legal defense nonprofits to ensure children in our care have access to the finest immigration advocates and supports our country offers.
Being a Medical Coordinator has many advantages
As a Medical Coordinator at Devereux, you will be a critical part of a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated, experts who share your passion for helping children in need.
The Medical Coordinator is a position and schedules regular medical, dental and other health-related appointments for the children in our care, including off-site appointments for specialty, dental and radiology treatment, which require completion of the short-term shelter care services Treatment Authorization Request (TAR).The Medical Coordinator ensures that all medications are appropriately dispensed and all medical appointments are recorded and checked against a Medical Appointment Log that describes each appointment, its outcome, and next steps. You will also be responsible for assisting the Medical Contractor and Nurses with filing and other administrative duties.
As a Medical Coordinator, you will report to the Registered Nurses for supervision and support. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that the US Medical Clearance Compliance Tracking document is current.

Qualifications:
The IDEAL candidate will...- Bilingual (Spanish and English).
- Must have a minimum of a High School diploma/GED, Associate’s preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting.
- Be empathetic and have a team approach to care for our individuals
- Be able to lift up to 50+ pounds and perform Safe and Positive Approaches
Additionally:
- Fully immunized/vaccinated (or have a medical/religious exemption) for Varicella, MMR, TdAp, Influenza prior to starting.
- Must be 21 years of age or older (per licensing standards)
- Valid driver's license
