Overview:
Avison Young's Corporate Accounting division is searching for a talented individual to join the team. The Business Controller will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the financial operations within the Real Estate Management Services (REMS) division.
This position requires a detail-oriented and strategic individual who can effectively coordinate financial processes, monitor profitability, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaison Role: Act as the REMS liaison with Corporate Finance and Accounting to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Monthly Financial Reviews: Conduct monthly financial reviews with REMS Market Leaders to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Accounts Receivable Monitoring: Monitor REMS Corporate Accounts Receivable (AR) to ensure timely collections and accurate reporting.
- Process Automation: Streamline and automate the management fee, payroll, and miscellaneous billing processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Budget Coordination: Coordinate the REMS Adaptive Budget process, ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals and objectives.
- Reforecasting Oversight: Oversee the re-forecasting process to provide accurate and updated financial projections.
- Profitability Monitoring: Monitor profitability and profit margin calculations to ensure financial health and sustainability.
- Property Tracker Management: Manage and lead the Property Tracker to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of property-related data.
- Cost Administration: Administer property accounting costs and allocations to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
- Labor Allocation Monitoring: Monitor labor allocations and markup calculations to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Technology Billings Coordination: Coordinate REMS technology billings and payments to ensure timely and accurate financial transactions.
- Acquisition Due Diligence: Participate in acquisition due diligence to assess financial implications and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the real estate or property management industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
