Job Summary:
Responsible for the management of the application support engineering group which provide technical product and project support to outside customers and the Chesterton field sales organization. Group
Job Model: Hybrid
All fully remote positions will require you to travel on site 2-4 times per month depending upon business needs at your own expense.
Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager.
On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day to day workloads and schedules of direct reports.
- Develops training plans with employees, and mentors them in their professional development and growth.
- Responsible for disciplinary action and performance reviews.
- Makes recommendations for compensation for their group members.
- Drive the development of productivity improvements for the group.
- Provide technical assistance to field sales personnel via telephone, e-mail, and/or customer visits.
- Assist After Sales Team (AST) to analyze failed seals as required. Provide as necessary a written report to the applicable AST. Report should consist of applications information, observations, analysis and recommendations for corrective action.
- Generate engineering change requests based on customer requests, design change requirements or drafting errors. Design change requirements are based on modifications deemed necessary by the application engineer to meet applications conditions.
- Generate engineering design orders as needed for Custom Solutions based on customer request.
- Works with Marketing Product Managers to support the implementation of new product lines, and participates in the initiation and definition of new opportunities based on view of inputs coming into the group from the field.
- Represents the Company in appropriate industry groups and forums. Assist as requested to provide training with inside, field and customer groups.
- Provides input and support in the development of tools and systems to improve flow of information to stimulate sales activity, and helps manage and implement those tools in the field.
- Assist marketing to maintain reference files on various products. Provide copies of new information to applications engineering.
- If requested, develop list of proven applications in particular area of specialization.
- Interacts with Customer Care Team (CCT), Manufacturing, Quality and other support functions regularly
- Assists engineers and others in analysis of data for the purpose of reviewing information to make engineering decisions
- Works with several or all engineering, customer care, drafting, test lab, and production personnel to accomplish projects.
- Enters technical information into databases and prepares various reports as requested by inside sales and engineering.

- Works under minimal supervision. Independently determines and develops approaches to projects and solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
- Responsible for supervising a group of engineers on a regular basis.
- Works under pressure to meet continuous deadlines.
- Requires wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in the engineering and manufacturing fields and working knowledge of other related disciplines.
- Must exercise sound judgment and discretion in choosing a particular course of action.

Education and/or Experience:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Marine Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Plastics Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years’ industrial experience with rotating, and stationary equipment sealing.
