Senior Buyer – Aerospace Manufacturing
We are seeking a Senior Buyer to join our team! This role is responsible for procuring materials, components, and sub-assemblies at optimal cost while ensuring quality and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and supporting cost reduction initiatives in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate prices, specifications, and delivery dates; award bids and place orders with suppliers.
- Prepare purchasing documentation and verify specifications of purchasing requisitions.
- Develop expertise in commodities procurement related to aerospace products and components.
- Implement continuous replenishment strategies with assigned suppliers.
- Support supplier rationalization plans and transitions to new/existing suppliers.
- Negotiate and execute commercial agreements to optimize total costs and mitigate risks.
- Lead and support cost reduction projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and update purchase orders in MRP/ERP systems to align with design and delivery requirements.
- Balance current and future demand requirements with supplier capabilities to ensure on-time delivery.
- Analyze supply chain data and recommend actions for optimal execution.
- Evaluate and improve supplier performance in quality, cost, and timing.
- Work closely with vendors to enhance delivery, quality, and pricing performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety, purchasing, and quality system requirements (AS9100, ISO-9001).
Qualifications:
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement strategies, supplier management, and negotiation techniques.
- Ability to analyze data and prepare supplier performance reports.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP software and general computer applications.
- Understanding of FAR/DFAR U.S. Government procurement procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Supply Chain Management.
- CPSM, CPM, APICS, or ISM certification.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement techniques.
- Experience deploying electronic data interchange procurement methods.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000 per year
