The Banyan Global Program Coordinator I provides financial, administrative, and programmatic support to assist in the implementation of Banyan Global’s worldwide projects. This position is ideal for a candidate who is interested in learning the business and administrative side of international development, starting up and supporting field programs, and increasing their knowledge in the health, gender, and economic growth fields.

This position reports directly to the Program Officer and is based in Washington, DC. Candidates must have US citizenship, permanent residency, or a work permit.

Position

The Program Coordinator will provide financial, administrative, and programmatic support to fast-paced and diverse portfolios within Banyan Global’s Health Practice. The Program Coordinator will support projects including the USAID/Nigeria Health Workforce Management (HWM) Activity, a five-year project to support the establishment of a cost-effective, well-trained, and motivated health workforce, particularly in targeted rural and remote areas of Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kebbi, and Sokoto States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Program Coordinator may also support projects in the Economic Growth and Gender Practices.

We are looking for an organized candidate who is eager to expand their operational and programmatic experience in international development. The Program Coordinator will work closely with team members to make sure activities are running smoothly and efficiently, including supporting recruitment, procurement, financial monitoring, logistics, and contractual compliance.

Additionally, the Program Coordinator will support high-quality deliverables and communications through research, editing, and formatting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide project coordination support to Banyan Global’s projects
  • Process travel advances, expense reports, and invoices
  • Assist Program Manager with budget development, pipeline tracking and analysis, and budget modifications
  • Support recruitment efforts in compliance with Banyan Global’s procurement manual
  • Draft employment and consulting agreements and mobilize staff and consultants for long- and short-term assignments, including handling travel logistics
  • Serve as primary contact for consultants on administrative issues
  • Liaise with partners and vendors on administrative issues
  • Work with Program Managers, employees, and consultants to produce project deliverables in technical areas such as health, gender, and economic growth including researching, editing, and formatting documents and training materials and developing PowerPoint presentations
  • Support new business development initiatives
  • Assist with recruitment for existing projects and new business
  • Assist with communications outreach, website updates, and success stories
  • Travel internationally on an occasional basis
  • Support project start-up activities, including setting up a field office, hiring staff, and supporting the development of key start-up deliverables
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • English fluency required, French, Spanish, and/or Portuguese language skills a plus
  • Technical experience in health, gender, and/or economic growth a plus
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability and willingness to work in a hybrid environment, with in-office presence required three times per week
  • Ability to manage competing demands with multiple Program Managers
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, editing experience a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse staff, clients, and consultants
  • Strong office and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work within deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
