Education: AAS from an accredited college or universityLicense|Certifications: Registered (or registration eligible) Dietetic Technician with The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
Experience: Minimum: Experience in diet therapy and food service management in a health care facility. Preferred: Long Term Care food service and|or diet therapy experience.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling. Familiarity with regulatory requirements.Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), analytical, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public in a professional and courteous manner. Computer literacy. Preferred Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel.

Requirements: The staff member must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed by pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient group.
Responsibility: The Diet Technician provides quality nutrition care to our residents under the supervision of the Director, Nutritional Services. He or she assists in identifying resident needs and participates with the interdisciplinary team to develop the Care Plan.Compiles and evaluates essential data in the preparation of Nutritional Assessments and Care Planning. Evaluates residents at nutritional risk. May assist in the preparation and distribution of resident and non-resident meals.
Medical Records:
Documentation Provides professional documentation in medical records to uphold established requirements of policies, procedures and Standards of Care. Complies with all established federal, state and local regulatory agency standards.
Establish Nutrition:
Plans Assesses residents nutritional status, using established Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, develops nutritional care plans and implements short and long term goals for continuity in nutritional care within interdisciplinary framework.
Discharge Planning Participates in resident discharge planning process.
Meal Substitutions Monitors resident food preferences and meal substitutions provided within budgetary restraints. Able to maintain accurate data in software programs utilized for resident nutrition menus, and care.
Compliance Actively participates in the quality improvement program for nutrition services department (i.e. test trays, meal rounds, satisfaction surveys, chart audits, etc.)
