Sr. Network Engineer

NexGen Data Systems is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with experience engineering and administering complex worldwide WAN and LAN environments supporting networks running a variety of different routing and encryption protocols (BGP, OSPF, LISP, GetVPN, IPSec).
The candidate will be expected to have a detailed understanding of large-scale WAN concepts and associated technologies (i.e. QoS, monitoring, security, network automation) as they relate to providing a secure, reliable, fault-tolerant network supporting a large health provider.

The candidate will join a team of Senior Network Engineers and work in a collaborative multi-functional team environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Research and design complex network solutions to provide creative network solutions.
- Provide Tier 3 support in the troubleshooting of complex network and routing issues and, if needed, perform analysis to identify root cause of any performance issues and take appropriate corrective action to resolve issues.
- Perform security hardening and work with IA/C&A teams to conduct security scans/audits.
- Work with deployment and sustainment teams to ensure feasibility of deployment and operation of network designs.
- Work with senior leadership to communicate network designs and solutions clearly and effectively.
- Evaluate, design, and test new cloud-based systems and solutions sets.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Desired/Required Skills:
- 7+ years of experience working with WAN technologies such as BGP, MPLS, or LISP is required.
- 4+ years of experience with LAN technologies such as QoS, OSPF, or Spanning Tree.
- 3+ years of experience with encryption transport protocols such as IPSec, GetVPN, or DMVPN.
- 4+ years of experience in the documentation and diagramming of complex network environments is required.
- 2+ years of experience in the evaluation network equipment against a set of requirements.
- Virtualization experience using VMware and other virtualiztion technologies.
- 8570.01m compliance (IAT level I) is required and must be obtained prior to start date or within 60 days (Minimum CCNA)
- Experience in the DoD STIG security requirements is desired.
- Experience with Ixia Breakingpoint appliance for performance testing is desired.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-functional team environment (team player) is a must.
