Collections Specialist

This role requires someone with 2+ year of experience in collections. In this role you will assist customers with outstanding balances through phone and email. Duties will include (but are not limited to) making arrangements for accounts to be brought current in one or several payments within the allowable timeframe prior to the account being charged-off, following up on deadlines, transferring funds from member accounts, process ACH transfers and/or Credit/Debit card payments to clear or reduce the negative balances, and skip trace in order to locate hard to find members.

• Proficient understanding and application of collection processes.
• Demonstrated experience in collections, with a proven track record in reducing outstanding debts.
• Proficiency in skip tracing techniques to locate customers.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve conflicts amicably.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively correspond with clients.
• High degree of attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Possess strong arithmetic skills to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
• Knowledge of financial software, databases, and systems to effectively manage customer accounts.
• Familiarity with laws and regulations related to debt collection (e.g., Fair Debt Collection Practices Act).
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field preferred.
